Welcome to Destination: Disney...

Why in the world am I doing a blog? A Disney blog no less. There are so many awesome Disney themed blogs out in cyberspace already, so, why create another? I have wanted to start a blog for about a year now, but, I kept putting it off, talking myself out of it. But, like most Disney bloggers out there, I love Disney and hope I have something to offer to the Disney community. So, I have finally decided to throw my mouse ears into the blogosphere. And, if no one reads my blog, well, then I guess I will at least enjoy writing about Disney.

It seems my family thinks I am obsessed with Disney. Ok, I'll admit, I am just a little bit fascinated with all that Walt has imagined, including his animated features and shorts, but especially Walt Disney World. From 1973, when I first ventured into Walt's magical world at the innocent age of five, to the end of the first decade of this new millenium, I have been to "the World" over a dozen times and Disneyland once. In addition, the summer of 1990 was a magical, fantastic, dream of a summer when I had the opportunity to be a part of the Walt Disney World College Program where I was placed in Fantasyland of the Magic Kingdom. The following summer, I returned to work for the mouse and relive more of the magic. Those were two of the best summers of my life and they literally changed my future. But, I'll save that tale for a future post.

Besides my love for WDW, I also enjoy collecting Disney ephemera, especially pieces related to the Walt Disney World Resort. Nothing is out of the realm for my collection--from cups, plates, and swizzle sticks to coins, stickers, and match covers. Along with ephemera, I also collect Disney movies, Disney books, and other Disney related items.

So, what do I hope to accomplish with this blog anyway? Well, that is the question I have been asking myself ever since I have wanted to start a Disney blog and one I'll probably never be able to answer completely. However, I do know the main focus will center around Walt Disney World, but, I will also post about other items related to Disney including movies, history, and current events, to name a few. I also want to share stories from my time on the college program and the two summers I spent working at WDW. Really, if it is Disney related, then it is fair game for me to share.
